About

Bill G. Miller Jr.

Bill G. Miller Jr. lives in Liberia and studies Economics and Sociology at AME Zion University. He is also known as Economist OJUKU, and some of his students call him Grandpa.

He teaches economics in plain language, using the things Liberians deal with every day: Liberian dollars, food, airtime and data, transport, shoes and school.

He is the founder and president of the Positive Mindset Organization (PMO), a youth group that helps young people build positive thinking habits, discipline, confidence and leadership.

General OJUKU is the study site and chat helper he built for students.

Economist OJUKU is Bill's own education brand. It is not a PMO program.

What it is

Economist OJUKU: The Series is a set of short economics lessons for university and high-school students, young people, beginners and ordinary Liberians. The idea is simple: I explain economics like you're 5.

The definition used in the lessons: economics is the study of how businesses, government and individuals allocate scarce resources to satisfy unlimited wants.

How each lesson works

  1. University definition
  2. Simple definition
  3. Explain like I'm 5
  4. University example
  5. Everyday example
  6. Liberian example
  7. Key takeaway

Chapter 1: Understanding Economics

Seven days of lessons.

Try it: why choices are forced

You have 100 LD. Tick what you want to buy. Prices are from the lesson example.

Total0 LD
You have 100 LD to spend.

Limited money means you must choose. Choosing one thing means giving up another. That is scarcity and opportunity cost.
